Volunteers play a fundamental role in growing and sustaining the Lesedi Outreach programme.
Volunteering is a great way to learn about oneself. You get to see the world through other eyes, learning about South Africa’s youth, their struggles, accomplishments, inspirations and the journey in pursuit of an independent life.
We invite you to be a part of our community; to witness God’s miracles by sharing your knowledge and experience with the future generations of our country.
Lesedi Outreach is committed to the long term benefit of community development and education.
If you are interested in volunteering to teach at Lesedi, please make an appointment to come and join us for a trial Saturday morning. An appointment is necessary, because sometimes we are closed for school holidays or we are booked to take the children on an outing.
We have 4 different classes: grades 4 & 5, grades 6 & 7, grades 8 & 9, and grades 10 & 11. Each class has a team of volunteers who are a constant presence in the Lesedi life of these children. They are usually committed to at least two Saturdays a month.
You do not have to have a teaching degree to volunteer at Lesedi, we welcome people from all walks of life. Our volunteers come from diverse backgrounds and all have something to offer in this collaboration of minds and skills.
What you do need is: a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, the ability to make mistakes and learn from them, a good sense of humour and fun, the ability to apply discipline positively.
After you have seen how we work, please think carefully before you commit to teaching. We want our children to have consistency in their lives. If they can depend on us to turn up for them, they will turn up for us. If we try our best, they will try our best.
We would love to have you, if this is how you would like to contribute to the future of these young lives.
If teaching is not for you, then please consider joining our food rotation to provide sandwiches on a Saturday, or help with monetary donations so we can carry on running this programme
We believe that the Lord moves through prayer and without it Lesedi Outreach would not be where it is today. It is important that all the children involved are covered by prayer and that through our commitment and communication with the Lord that seeds will be sown and grown to bear much fruit.
